Hello, my name is Princes FPV Drones, and I am an FPV pilot. As an FPV pilot, I have a lot of LiPo 6S batteries, and since the FPV drone utilizes the same kind of battery, I wanted to enable the DJI FPV drone to use them. (2025) Little did I know that this would be a far more complex project than I ever anticipated.

First, I looked online and found very little information regarding such an adaptation. There were Channels of pilots attempting this concept, but never to completion. The few articles and YouTube videos on this subject left me wondering, “What happened?” So I started my journey to accomplish this rather involved task.
My initial research revealed that DJI FPV intelligent batteries comprise a “smart” BMS control board and a standard LiPo battery. They communicate with the drone, providing information such as battery voltage and temperature. Without this information, the drone will not start its motors. Upon further research, I found that a person named AirCruiserFPV had successfully overcome this issue.
Below is one of my videos on how I disassembled the DJI FPV battery and the steps to enable the use of the AirCruiserFPV breakout board with non-DJI batteries.

Endurance testing
Before testing flight times, we need to establish a base to compare from. We will be using a completely stock DJI FPV drone with no modifications to the physical configuration or software. We will be using the stock DJI FPV drone battery, which is fully charged and has fewer than 10 cycles. We will be cruising around in Normal mode with zero wind. We will record the weight of the drone in grams, as weight directly affects flight time.
